Access to the unloading quay and discover the port activity as well as the fish auction of the fishing port of La Cotinière with a guide from the tourist office.

Prices: €3.00 per adult, €1.50 for children aged 6 to 16, free for children under 6.

Decided by Richelieu in the 17th century to protect the island, it was enlarged and fortified by Vauban.

Discover the building of the iron belt begun by Vauban in the 17th century and completed in the 19th century with the construction of Fort Boyard.10.30am (1.30 hour tour) at the Citadelle car park.Information available from tourist offices on the Ile d’Oléron.

Every Thursday at 10.30am, let us tell you the story of the village of Saint Trojan- Les- Bains!

The salt marshes and the salt harvest were the source of Saint Trojan-Les-Bains’ wealth until the end of the 19th century, when the salt industry came to an end and the salt producers in Oleron went bankrupt.

The village, threatened by the dune, owed its salvation to the planting of the pine forest and, finally, to the sea baths, which left us with magnificent examples of seaside architecture, with their belle époque villas, some of which are listed and which have made the village the renowned resort it is today.

Come and discover the La Cotinière market every morning from Easter to All Saints‘ Day and from Tuesday to Sunday, from All Saints’ Day to Easter.

As well as the Victorine market (fish, oysters and shellfish) on the port, from Easter to All Saints’ Day, mornings and afternoons (after 3.30pm). Evening markets: every evening in July and August.
