The Port of Cotinière

Located on the west coast of the island of Oléron, in the centre of the wild coastline, the port of La Cotinière is much more than just a place to take a stroll: it’s the heart of Oléron’s fishing industry.

Sole, hake, sea bass, langoustine, prawns, sardines… more than 90 species of fish are unloaded every day.

The diversity of species and the versatility of the fleet (95 vessels, 300 fishermen) are the hallmarks of the port of La Cotinière.

Here you’ll find the picturesque charm of fishing ports, with their brightly-coloured trawlers and lively fish markets.

Experience the excitement of the fishermen returning to the quayside and treat yourself to some exceptional fresh seafood.

Tours of the fish auction (restricted access) are organised by the Ile d’Oléron Tourist Office.
